Late summer/Early Fall Self Care tips

This is probably a busy time for everyone but I can say from personal experience that it is anespecially busy time for those of us with children returning to school, whether it’s first grade or the first year of college! In our house the busyness has included out of state visitors and pre-season soccer. All really fun and yet it can be easy to let nutrition slide, sleep hygiene slide, and especially exercise routines slide! So here are a few simple tips to get all of us through the next few weeks until we have our fall rhythm back:-Try to devote a few hours on a weekend day to meal planning and shopping for the week. If there’s any extra time left consider chopping veggies that can easily be thrown into a salad or stir fry.Or bake some healthy banana bread or zucchini muffins. (We are gluten free in my home and I find that these types of recipes do really well with all purpose gluten free flour).-Smoothies are also a great way to pack in nutrition - make enough for spouses or children too. Include protein powder, fiber powder and any other supplements that are in powder form or even capsules which can be opened.-Make an effort to stick to your sleep and exercise schedules. This may mean that you walk for 25 minutes rather than 45. That’s ok! Or go to the gym and do part of your routine. Regularity is key!-For additional self care - the Acu Glow at Home is a great way to relax the muscles of the face. It takes about 5 minutes and feels wonderful.Call or email our front desk if you’re interested.-If taking vitamins and even getting to the hairdresser have fallen by the wayside, in the mean time daily application of Nutrafol’s hair serum is a great way to maintain healthy hair growth. It includes maca which prevents oxidative stress, producing thicker hair. In summary, even small things make a difference. You will thank you yourself in a few weeks!
